About Nkanyiso “Jobe” ka’Mthethwa

Nkanyiso Mthethwa, known by his clan name “Jobe”, is the Founder and Managing Director of O’wayo Power Energies, an energy engineering and utility management company focused on helping clients reduce energy costs, improve energy security, and strengthen the performance of their infrastructure.

Through O’wayo Power Energies, Jobe’s work spans energy engineering, wet services, solar thermal, combined heat and power, trigeneration, solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage, utility management, energy audits, tariff analysis, infrastructure assessments, technical services, and project execution across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional environments.

His work is shaped by a simple belief: “Technical capability becomes more powerful when it is connected to commercial discipline, structured capital, practical execution, and long-term ownership.”

Jobe’s thinking is grounded in execution. He comes from a technical and operational environment where ideas must be tested against real-world conditions — site constraints, client requirements, compliance standards, installation quality, commissioning, maintenance, and long-term system performance. For him, a good idea must be technically possible, commercially sound, financially structured, and executable on the ground.

Beyond energy, property forms part of Nkanyiso’s broader asset-building strategy. As a property developer, he sees buildings not only as real estate, but as places of living and operating environments shaped by energy mix, energy costs, tenant mix, design quality, building condition, management discipline, and the capital structure behind them. This is where his interest in value-add property, multi-lets, mixed-use buildings, urban regeneration, and income-producing assets connects naturally with his energy and construction background.

The larger direction is to build businesses, assets, partnerships, and capital structures that solve real operational problems while creating long-term value. At the centre of this is O’wayo Power Energies, supported by a wider vision that includes technical services capacity, property development interests, project finance, energy asset ownership, and capital partnerships.

His philosophy is simple:
Build what solves a real problem. Structure it properly. Execute it well. Own value over time.
